As stated in the attached Memorandum from Dr. Jim Pendleton ,the
data on subsidence movement appears consistent with earlier observations. Movements in the
interim period since last fall's monitoring have been minor, as expected. Cumulative subsidence
continues to be less than originally projected in Mountain Coal Company's subsidence evaluation
This report does meet the requirements for MCC's Semi-Annual Subsidence Monitoring Report
and is accepted as submitted. However, MCC was requested (in the Division's Annual Subsidetce
Monitoring Report review letter dated August 28, 1997) to indicate the location of cracking and
"scars"on the subsidence map. For future subsidence monitoring reports, please incorporate a
map indicating the location and orientation of the cracks and other features described for the visual
observations. Also please include photographs of these features.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
~~~ r ~~
Michael P.
