HENDERSON DEVELOPMENT COMPANY
Annual Report - 80-110
September, 1984
Description•
The Henderson Gravel Extraction operation is located in Adams
County at the intersection of U.S.85 and Nome Street. The
property is owned by the Henderson Development Company, but is
being mined by the Siegrist Construction Company operating under
the name of Colorado Sand and Gravel on a royalty basis to the
Henderson Development Company. This report is intended to
summarize the mining and reclamation activities which have been
undertaken on this site for the annual reporting period ending
September 9, 1984.
Mini.na and Reclamation Activities:
The total surface acreage involved in this property is
approximately 36 acres with mining to take place in four phases
as follows. Phase 1 consisted of 2.5 acres at the southern
portion of the site; this area has been mined and is presently
being partially used for gravel and soil stockpiles. Phase 2A
comprises the north 28 acres of the site, and this phase involved
mining to the water line; this mining phase was completed this
last year. Phase 2B comprises the same 28 acres as Phase 2A,
except this phase involved mining below the water line; this
mining is being undertaken now. During this next year the
operator hopes to complete approximately half of the Phase 2B
area, with the balance the year after. Phase 3 consists of the
middle 5.5 acres where the plant and accessory facilities are
located, and will be not be completely mined until after Phases
2A and 2B are completed in two to three years. This area has not
been mined to date, but has been disturbed since the mining
equipment(crusher, etc.), gravel stockpiles and some of the dirt
stockpiles are located in this area.
The reclamation activities to date consist mainly of
contouring where possible in the completed phases. Because of
the smallness of the site, permanent revegetation will not be
undertaken until the completion of most mining on the property.
Therefore the reclamation activities for this year consist of
some sloping of the Phase 2A mining area to the 3 to 1
requirement of the final reclamation plan. During this next year
as Phase 2B is completed this sloping will be finished.
