Deot. of Natural Reso~rce~ RESPONSES TO RULE 2.41: Rule 2.41(1): Location and numbers of acres affected during that year. It is difficult to identify the precise areas operated during any particular year. The annual mining area is small and is dispersed along a rather lengthy working face. It was originally planned to work about 3 acres per year for a total of about 53 acres of mined land. Of that, 9 acres is left to be mined. Therefore, it appears the operation has consumed the mining acreage at a rate reasonably close to the rate originally pre- dieted. As noted in the introduction land has been stripped outside the 1976 permit area to the north of the working face. Also, an area of 12.1 acres has been redisturbed south of the southeast corner of the 1976 permit boundary. These areas are shown on the annual report map. Rule 2.41(2): Locations and number of acres reclaimed for that year. Reclamation work was done in 1979. Although most of the area seeded was pre-1973 law lands, 8 acres within the 1974 and 1976 permit boundaries was graded and seeded. It is assumed this land was part of the area that was released in 1979. Rule 2.41(3): The location and number of acres in various stages of reclamation (back- filled, graded, topsoil replaced, revegetated). Except for that area addressed in the previous section no other land has been graded, topsoiled, or seeded. On the west side of the operation is the topsoil stockpile. It occupies and area of 4 acres. Rule 2.41(4): The species of vegetation planted, the locations and approximate dates of planting. In 1979, 45.9 acres were seeded by Randall and Blake. This is the only seeding that has occurred since the 1976 permit was approved. The attached letter from Arkansas Valley Seeds, Inc. to Randall and Blake shows what was seeded and the seed analysis show the quality of the seed. Rule 2.41(5): The type and approximate quantity of fertilizer, organic material, or soil conditioners used and location of use.
