Despite three consecutive years of grouse activity at this site, it cannot be defined as a lek until <br />• both male and female grouse are positively identified. <br />On 26 April, one male blue grouse (Dendrogapus obscunss) was seen displaying from <br />atop a berm along the Seneca II-W haul road in NE'/a SW'/a Section 22, TSN, R87W. One <br />male blue grouse was seen in the same area in 1999, and two were seen there in 1998. <br />GOLDEN EAGLE NESTING <br />A cluster of five golden eagle nests exist on a cliff face above Hubberson Gulch in <br />Sections 16 and 21, TSN, R88W (Exhibit 1). Two of those nests were first identified in April <br />2000. On 26 April, eagles were seen incubating at the south-most of the five nests. This <br />territory has been monitored since 1996 and was active in three of those five years (1996, <br />1997, and 2000). <br />SANDHILL CRANE ACTIVITY <br />No sandhill cranes or suitable crane habitat were found during the pedestrian survey on <br />• 27 April.
