Bowie Resources, LLC April 21, 2006
Bowie No. 2 Mine
2005 Annual Hydrology Report
Table 3 contains a listing of the field parameters and their application to the Springs,
Streams, Drill Holes and Ponds within the permit boundary. Flow readings for springs
and small streams are reported in gallons per minute. Stream and river flows are
reported in cubic feet per second.
Table 4 contains local precipitation data for 2005. This data is no longer available from
the Internet at www.crh.noaa.gov/pit. Daily precipitation data are no longer available.
2005 data is presented as monthly compilations.
Table 5 contains a listing of all monitoring points, with descriptions of their locations and
a reference to the Monitoring Point Figure that contains this year's monitoring data. A
notation of whether a chart is included is provided in this table.
Monitoring point figures follow this introduction. Each Monitoring Point has an individual
table which tabulates the annual data collection and reports Minimum, Maximum,
Average and Baseline data. A reference in each footnote explains the period used for
baseline data.
• Flow data for the North Fork of the Gunnison River is obtained from the USGS from a
website http://nwis-coio.cr.usgs.gov/historic.html. This fiow reading is obtained
telemetrically from a station near Somerset, CO and is reflective of upper river flows
only. This monitoring point is identified by the USGS as 09132500.
Flow data for the Fire Mountain Canal is obtained from the Division of Water
Resources, Division IV, 1540 E. Niagara Street, Montrose, Colorado 81402. This flow
is representative of the upper flow.
Monitoring point identifiers near the mine portals are historic and follow no specific
naming convention. Monitoring points located in areas monitored for the PR-04 permit
revision follow a convention where the first letter(s) designates a water source type,
such as "S" for Spring or "SP" for Spring and Pond. The numeral(s) following the first
letter designate what Section the water source is located, for instance, SP34-2 would
be a spring and pond in Section 34. The numeral separated with a dash indicates an
index number for that point. SP34-2 would be the second monitoring point found in
Section 34.
CDPS Monitoring Points
DMRs are submitted quarterly to the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment with copies to the Division of Minerals and Geology and are included
herein by reference.
•
