DMG Permit No. M-88-112
March Monthly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of March.
The NANO/RO water plant operated intermittently during the month. A total of 10,979,700
gallons of water (33.70 acre feet) was treated and discharged into Rito Seco during the month
of March.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailing impoundment on 28
March 2001, the piezometers were dry or contained below 12 inches of water.
The two west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on 29 March 2001, with the
following result: BF-1 was 29.12 ft and BF-2 was 32.55 ft. The other piezometers in the West
Mine area were also checked with the following result: PW-1 was 29.33 ft, PW-2 was 29.50 ft,
PW-3 was 36.83 ft and PW-4 was 31.41 feet.
Depth to water at BF-4 was at 26.18 feet on 3/29/01.
Depth to water at BF-6 was at 32.20 feet on 3/29/01.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 29 gpm
The collection pond leak detection system was pumped on 26 & 27 March 2001. The leak was
approximately 243 gpad.
Due to this volume of leakage we are pumping the collection pond everyday down to as small a
volume as possible. We will be inspecting the liner for holes and making needed repairs
ASAP.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC.
.A SUBSIDIARY OF BA7TLE ,4fOUNTAM' GOLD COMPANY
PO.
