iiiiuiiiiiiiiiihi
Doc Date:12/11I2001
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report is submitted to the Office of Mined land Reclamation (OMLR), Division of Minerals and
Geology, in fullfillment of the requirements outlined in Appendix 15-4 of permit C-81-008. This
report presents the data and analysis resulting from the hydrologic monitoring program for the period
October 1, 1991 through September 30, 1992.
1 During this monitoring period, the Nucla and Nucla East properties and permits were transferred from
Peabody Coal Company to Western Fuels-Colorado, A Limited liability Company (WFC). The
-~ permit transfer was approved by OMLR on May 15, 1992. Hydrologic monitoring activities were
assumed by WFC in late June 1992. Prior to that time, Peabody Coal Company performed all
monitoring activities.
After the property and permits were transferred, the mines were renamed the New Horizon Mine.
_ To help distinguish the old mining area from the new mining area, the Nucla Mine (old area) is now
called New Horizon 1 and Nucla East (new area) is now New Horizon 2. Since the monitoring was
done under the program for temporary cessation of mining, data was collected only at New Horizon
1.
During the fourth quarter of 1992, the New Horizon Mine was returned to active status. Anew
hydrology monitoring plan has been proposed and is currently being revised as per OMLR
requirements. The annual hydrology report for the October 1992 -September 1993 water year will
be based on the new hydrology monitoring plan as it is approved.
The Hydrology Monitoring Site Location Map is included with this report as Plate 1. This is also Map
2.04.7-1 from permit C-81-008.
1
