• SITE RECLAMATION ACTIVITY
APRIL 2004 TO MARCH 2005
Reclamation activity during the 2004 reporting year (April 2004 to
March 2005) consisted of site cleaning and maintenance of vegetated
areas.
In the following sections of this report, environmental activity
during the 2004 reporting year and planned environmental activity
for the 2005 reporting year is discussed on a site by site basis. A
summary of acreage permitted, disturbed, and undergoing reclamation
is presented in Table A (page 2).
AMERICAN TUNNEL PORTAL AREA - Plate No. 1
During the 2004 reporting year, no additional acreage was disturbed
or reclaimed.
Reclamation and environmental activity during 2004 consisted of;
1) general site cleaning. Solid waste was disposed of via the
• local landfill collection company.
2) vacating the facility to allow exclusive use by the new owner.
3) monitoring and maintenance of vegetated areas.
4) waiting for approval of Gold King's application for a MLR 112
permit to be approved so Gold King could take over reclamation
responsibility of the area per the Agreement with Gold King.
It is now believed to be unlikely this Agreement term will be
met by Gold King and Sunnyside will continue their reclamation
activity in 2005.
5) submitting an application for removal of 0.41 acres from the
permit area (AR-3). The application was submitted too late in
the season to allow inspection.
Activities planned for 2005 are;
1) reclamation of the settling ponds.
2) reclamation of the Cement Creek diversion disturbance.
3) removal of the loci shop if it is damaged beyond Gold King's
estimation of economic value. It was damaged by an avalanche
in January of 2005.
4) monitoring and maintenance of vegetated areas.
•
