Radium Hill Group Annual Report
The September Morn Mine site was inspected by the Division on August 21, 2003, as part
of the normal monitoring program. The inspector noted that waste rock had been reshaped
and contoured by pocking to prevent erosion, and that pocking had prevented major erosion
and sedimentation of the drainage basin. Vegetative cover was estimated at 10%-15%, but
it was noted that diverse species of grasses were established.
At Umetco's request, a second inspection was held at the site on November 6, 2002, with
Umetco, BLM and Division representatives attending. The parties discussed the site
reclamation status and observed results of the recent reseeding. Newly germinated plant
species were noted.
A November 2002 BLM letter acknowledged that Umetco had reseeded the mine azea and
that boulder placement and pocking have worked effectively in maintaining slope stability.
BLM representatives and the Division inspector agreed to meet with Umetco's
representative in late May to determine if site vegetative cover meets BLM standards.
A map is not included with this report as there aze no new areas of disturbance.
RECEIVED
FE8 2 8 2003
Division of Minerals and Geology
