GROUNDWATER WELLS
Field and laboratory data collected from the five (5)
groundwater monitoring wells are summarized on Tables 10-13,
Water quality Data; Table 9 Monitor Well Water Levels; and
Figures 3-5, Water Levels for wells.
During the reporting period, well levels remained constant
or showed moderate increases. A review of the complete
historical data indicates a gradual decrease in the level of each
well, possible the result of a gradient existing towards the mine
as operations continue to expand in close proximity to the wells.
Comparison of quality data with those presented in previous
annual reports indicate no significant changes due to mining
operations. Concentrations of dissolved iron, and SAR values,
exhibit moderate changes but no apparant trend. These and other
minor parameter changes probably result from fluctuating well
levels and the gradually decreasing well levels.
CONCLUSIONS
The required groundwater monitoring program continues to
monitor the impacts of Southfield's mining operations on the
ground water system in and adjacent to the undeground workings.
The water quality data show no significant change or impact from
the mining operations.
