Basic habitat components will be recorded for each survey area using Colorado Natural
Heritage Program's Animal Species of Special Concern Survey Form (attached). Qualitative
assessments of the hydrologic regime will be recorded for each survey area.
General qualitative habitat information for areas occupied by Preble's meadow jumping mouse
in Boulder County will be summarized. A map showing areas surveyed and documented
jumping mouse locations will be prepared. Additional unsurveyed potential habitat will be
identified. Current (and historical) management regimes for documented occurrences will be
researched and described.
As part of our effort to coordinate with other agencies, the City of Boulder Open Space
Department will provide a limited amount of staff time to assist Colorado Natural Heritage
Program staff in aerial photo interpretation and identification of potential habitat along the
Front Range in areas outside of Boulder County.
PRODUCTS
The following products will be provided to the USFWS to assist in a status review: 1) map and
report summarizing the results of the study, 2) recommendations for further study/inventory
and coordination, 3) analysis of potential habitat management strategies based on
characteristics of habitat identified as part of this study and habitat identified by other
researchers.
RELEVANT LITERATURE
Adler, G.
