t failures and sloughs of the reclaimed side slopes during reservoir operation (rapid drawdown
condition), the slopes should be compacted. Side slope reclamation observation and testing is beyond
the scope of our work.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Construction of the La Poudre slurry wall was performed in conformance with the specified quality
control standards. Corrective field actions were quickly implemented when results of the on-site
testing did not meet allowable specifications. As a final quality control measure, periodic inspections
of the slurry trench are recommended to check to any localized seep zones into the mine excavation.
Special attention should be given in areas where the bedrock key was less than the specified value and
in areas of sandstone bedrock.
The final constructed slurry wall length of 9,480 feet encompasses approximately 93 acres.
Preliminary maximum reservoir capacity is estimated to be 1,102 acre-feet. However, reservoir
capacity will depend on future mining operations and the reclaimed side slope geometry.

~1
r

i

r
