25 and 27, normally exhibits rater levels higher thsa either 25 or 27. This ie not a
• normal ground rater level gradient; therefore, its water levels should be reviered rith
caution. Perhaps, as rich Well 22, rater is being trapped in the borehole.
Sawn spoil wells were completed in the fall of 1937. Three (Well 59, 60, end 61) were
completed upgradiant of the Spoils Spring 3 azaa, chile lour (Wells 62 Lo 65) core
completed in the Spoils Spring 1 azaa. The purpose of placing aewral walls at each Bite
rae to accurately define the potantiometric surface of the spoils aquifer at each
location. Water levels at all o! these spoil ralln exhibit normal seasonal vaziationn.
Wall 65 has bean dry for the entire period o! record. It is located in an area chars the
epoila aze unsaturated.
Ground Water Lawl 5+~:!~. All alluvial wells aze shoring distinct seasonal rater level
Fluctuations in response to periods o! precipitation recharge or the lack of
precipitation. Overburden and coal roll water levels era fluctuating in xeeponaa to the
precipitation rechazge, induced ground rater floc to the mina pits, and in soma canes,
changes in reaarvoir rater levels. Spoil wall rater levels still indicate that only the
furthaei doxnalope highrall portions of the spoil exhibit significant amovntn o!
• saturation. Lewla in a spoil roll near the Wndge Impoundment in lazgely controlled by
water level llvetuatione in the impoundment. Water levels in several xella this year rera
higher then normal ea n result of high spring runolf. Deraterinq by the Wolf Creak caul
mine pit has ranulted in lower than normal rater lewla in one of the wells monitoring
that seam.
Water Quality. Ground rates samples xare collected from 21 calls on a biannual baaie. In
addition, one well (SOVC2) that is required to be sampled did not haw enough water to
esmple. The pazametex list used !or nll wells sampled this year is given on Table <.
Analyses haw bean performed by ACZ Laboratory in 6teambost Springs, Colorado since Nay
31, 1933. ACZ Laboratory performs all analyses by EPA or equivalent methods. Samples sre
delivered the day of collection to the lab in an iud cooler.
Tha folloring diacuneion of the ennlytical data collected during the reporting period is
arranged by strata ~baing monitored and coincides rith the Pozmst (by aquifer type) in
rhich the analytical data aze presented in Appandir C. The discussion of rater quality
• rill ba limited to a description of total dissolved solids (TDS) concentrntione. A
5
