Box 518 <br />Somerset, Colorado 81434 <br />Re: Water Quality Sampling at Bear No. 3, Permit C-81-033 <br />Dear Mr. Springer: <br />Due to a misunderstanding between Bear Coal Company and the Division no water <br />quality samples were taken during 1986. Bear Coal understood that the Division <br />was taking samples at the mine that would suffice for the required annual <br />monitoring. At the time, Division personnel were only demonstrating proper <br />sampling techniques and, therefore, no samples were actually taken or analyzed. <br />Bear Coal Company is requested to take two water quality samples each from <br />Well AA-1 and AA-3 during 1987 to rectify the monitoring defficiency of 1986. <br />Feel free to call me if you have any questions. <br />Sincerely, <br />~~J <br />Brent C.
