The operation is slowly being increased back to a level of significant production.
Annual Report Maps: The attached map shows the primary areas of disturbance and the type of
disturbance occurring in each area.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land has not increased primarily due to the activity being
confined to previously disturbed land. The large waste pile has been further reduced and placed in the
excavation at the back of the quarry. A small amount of excavation has occurred just north of the scale and
plant. This removed a small amount of exposed limestone that needed to be removed to make room for
further access. The West Ridge was examined and consideration is being given as to how it will be mined.
As noted in the plan, the problem here are the underground workings that are difficult if mining above
those workings and, eventually, into them. Consideration is also being given to initiating work in the
northwestern corner with, first, the establishment of the drainage basin at the bottom of the drainage.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. No additional revegetation was done. What
was done in the past is in excellent condition.
Road Corridor: The road corridor has been improved and graded. Tree plantings along the lower portion
of the road have done moderately well and have sufficient survival, if it continues, to introduce significant
visual improvement.
Expected Activity (2000 - 2001): During the next year activity to prepare the site for higher production
will continue. This will involve continued movement of various waste materials into mined out areas where
it is out of the way. It is possible that all or a part of the West Ridge will be mined. It is also possible that
an access road across the crest of the North Wall will be built into the West Drainage where the sediment
basin will be built and the first mining of that area started.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a corporate bond.
Recent Inspections: The site was inspected by the Division on February I, 2000 (note: inspection date on
report is in error). Only problem was the need for submitting a geotechnical stability report. That report is
being prepared by Banks and Gesso.
Castle Concrete 2000 Annual Report M-77-210 Snyder Quarry Page 1 of 1
