• Mine inflows during 1982 were extremely small. The estimate of
total mine inflows during Water Year 1982 of 0.33 acre-ft. is
probably high and may include measurement of water pumped into
the mine for dust control. The quality of mine water is
considered good and offers no problem for treatment and
discharge. No mine water discharge occurred during Water Year
1982.
Mine water inflow for Water Year 1983 is expected to be similar
to that experienced during Water Year 1982. Possible discharge
of mine water would be of such a small quantity and short
duration that any discharge from the sedimentation pond would be
dominated by treated storm water runoff.
• The construction of the waste rock pile has had no impact on
groundwater as the site is underlain by approximately 50 ft. of
unsaturated colluvial soils consisting primarily of clay. Mining
activities have had no effect on springs during the 1982 Water
Year. The springs within 100 ft. above or below the F-Seam in
the permit area show no change in flow characteristics since
mining and construction commenced.
Mining and construction activities have not adversely impacted
the North Fork. Water withdrawals during Water Year 1982 were
less than .02% of river flows. Even under lower flow conditions
or higher withdrawal rates in subsequent years, withdrawals will
not result in a measureable change in streamflow rates on the
• North Fork.
-5-
