• sample was obtained at the old Upper Dry Fork gage
location rather than at the new Upper Dry Fork
gage. Water quality samples were also obtained
quarterly at three additional locations: the North
Fork above Sylvester Gulch, the North Fork below the
Bear Mine and the East Fork above South Prong.
Sampling locations are shown on Exhibit I.
Water quality analyses were performed for all
parameters listed in Table 1.1-1. The rationale for
inclusion of the parameter is also provided. Water
quality data for the 1982 Water Year are included in
the Quarterly Monitoring Reports.
• Water quality data are also collected by the USGS at
their North Fork gaging station near Somerset. A
listing of water quality analysis for this station
during Water Year 1982 is contained in Appendix A.
I.2 Spring Water Monitoring
The locations of known springs in the Mt. Gunnison Environ-
mental Study Area, an area extending approximately one mile
beyond the coal lease boundary, are shown on Exhibit II.
During Water Year 1982, springs on the northern half of the
Dry Fork basin were monitored monthly for rate of discharge,
pH, temperature and conductivity when weather conditions
• would permit monitoring in order to comply with MLRD Permit
-15-
