• .
12
5) If water from the BMRI laboratory is used again, the final DI water should
be used.
6) The collection of all field data in permanent ink in a 5eld notebook with
bound, numbered pages is preferable to the use of loose 5eld data collection
sheets with information written in pencil.
7) Check samples with pH paper before shipping to ensure that they were
preserved to the proper pH.
8) Samples for nitrate+nitrite and total phosphorous determination should be
preserved with sulfuric acid to pH c2.
9) QA/QC procedures such as a cyanide spike recovery analysis should be
performed on samples from the collection pond to determine if analytical
interferences are present.
10) Samples that have cyanide concentrations above detection should have
nitrate+nitrite and fatty acid determinations.
11) Clear up the confusion about which analytes and field parameters are to be
determined in the process point samples (tailings and collection ponds).
12) Determine the composition of the greenish precipitate in the process point
locations and evaluate whether it will cause analytical interferences with the
determination of cyanide; take matched (either total or dissolved) samples for
total and WAD cyanide and metals; determine cyanide on both filtered and
unfiltered samples from the process points for the next third-party monitoring.
13) Consider determining the following additional parameters: total metals in
groundwater samples if unfiltered iron is significantly greater (>+20%) than
filtered iron; sulfide, anions, and the full list of metals in process point
samples; any important constituents in reagents or the ore/waste rock that are
not included in the list of analyzes.
14) Retain another laboratory or change the timing of sampling in the MOU if
Core Laboratories cannot meet a shorter turnaround time.
RCG/Hagler, Bailly, Inc
