Before considering the proper course of action regarding how that project and the Pueblo
West Pit can work together you requested some additional details on the project Following is a complete review of
the project and the permit for the gravel pit and how they influence each other. In addition axe some suggested
courses of action to allow the project to proceed within portions of the permitted area. Besides my discussion of this
matter, I have included a number of photographs, a project description provided by Mr. Hobson, and portions of
the Corps of F_'ngineers plans.
As bids have been requested and contracts will soon be completed, action on this matter is requested to be taken as
soon as possible so whatever other preparations are needed can be completed before the work actually begins. The
fisheries habitat rehabilitation is only one piece of a much larger vision for the Arkansas River coxxidox in Pueblo. It
is importanx to recognize that although the permit area for the Pueblo West Pit is a significant piece of the larger
plan, the plan includes a much larger area than just the river coxxidox that passes through the pemut area. As the
maps show, the project includes essentially the entire corridor from Pueblo Dam to the mouth of Fountain Creek on
the cast side of Pueblo.
IE you have any questions regarding the materials, please do not hesitate to call. It is suggested that after you have
reviewed the materials a meeting be set between the Division and some of the parties involved to discuss the best
course of action to keep things moving smoothly. Thank you fox your consideration.
Permit #: l~'l' l 9,~1 ^.513 Confidental?: ~~ Sincerely,
Class: Type-Seq.: ~~,rG~~ ~~
From: © To: ~'n'f[~Z, % ~1'!/C/lj/ o
Doc.
