Begej
Reclamation Specialist
COLORADO MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Re: 1987 Annual Hydrology Report
Dear Cathy:

FEB 25 1988
MINeI u,~.u
RECLAMATION DIVISION
The following is the Annual Hydrology Report for 1987 for the Bear
Number Three Mine.
In 1987, there were four cro~lete alluvial well field tests taken at the
Bear Number Three Dlinesite. These tests were taken on the following dates:
March 26, 1987; September 8, 1987; September 24, 1987; and December 21, 1987.
In addition, Brent Anderson with CMLR took a field test of alluvial well #1
on June 11, 1987. Copies of the results of these tests are enclosed for your
information.
In addition to the field tests, bottle samples were taken frcan both
wells on October 23, 1987 and December 21, 1987. These samples were
suUnitted to ACZ, Inc., Camiercial Lab Division for analysis. Copies of the
results of this analysis are enclosed with this report.
On July 13, 1987, we received a letter from CMLRD dated July 8, 1987.
In this letter, Bear was instructed to "investigate the integrity and
viability of well AA-1". In order to cong~ly with this request we took two
bottle sa;~les frcan each well and sukmitted them for analysis instead of the
required one. Our analysis of the results from all of the tests on AA-1
indicate that the electroconductivity values for this well continue to go
higher. Therefore, we have sukznitted all of the data to ACZ, Inc., and have
requested that they evaluate the information and report back to us with their
recarmendation. Bear will notify the Division as soon as we have received
ACZ's determination.
In 1987, there were no discharges from the sediment pond at the Bear
Number Three Mine. Also, there were non from the sediment pond at the Bear
Number Two Mine.
For the year 1987, we estimate that the entire operation at Bear Number
Three consumed a total of 680,000 gallons of water. There were no outflavs
fran the mine during the year.
