Lochhead
Eveculive Director
Michael B. Long
Division Director
The Division has completed review of the responses submitted by Greystone, Inc. to the
Division's questions raised as a result of review of the 1995 Annual Hydrology Report for
the Golden Eagle and New Elk mines.
The Division has no further questions at this time. As discussed with Cathy Begej of
Greystone, the new copy of Exhibit 1 is difficult to read due to technical problems during
reproduction. Cathy agreed that this would be rectified in future reports. Also, a page
numbering problem was discussed, and new pages will be provided for replacement in the
neaz future. A number of sampling visits were missed during the 1995 reporting period.
While none of these samples individually were critical for identification of impacts, the
Division reminds Basin to strive to complete monitoring exactly as set forth by the approved
hydrologic monitoring program. If access, personnel, or equipment difficulties are
encountered, please contact the Division as soon as possible.
Overall, no apparent impacts or trends were observed in the data reported. Some
inconsistencies will be field checked by the Division during the next field season Given the
reclaimed status of the Golden Eagle mine, future impacts appeaz unlikely at this operation.
If you have questions, please call me.
Sincer ly,
~'~„~-
Ken A.
