D. I ORY - PH4$F.~
An investigation of both the present and proposed permit areas and adjacent
lands has revealed that there are no structures located over present or
proposed underground mining activities. The mine is in an open, relatively
untimbered hillside that is covered with saoebrush, wildgrass and other
natural vegetation: ~ There are no residences, roads, major drainages or
.other significant features overlying the mine site.
E. CONSEnUEPICES - PH4SE 2
This mine has been operated since the early 1940's. There may have been
short periods when the mine was not worked. /It was noted from our surface
'.investigations, as well as our subsurface inspection that no evidence of
:subsidence has been seen over even the oldest workings of this mine.
Virtually all of the old workings of this mine are accessible and few
collapsed roofs or cave-ins could be seen.
If subsidence occurred the worst possible consequences may be diminished
range capacity for grazing.
F. ~I12~C1`~IJ~ - PH4SF 3
In order to substantiate our feeling that subsidence will not occur we are
proposing to adopt the following program:
1.) Continue to observe the existing underground mined system for cave-ins
and movement.
2.) We will locate a minimum of nine (9) monitoring points. (See Exhibit 3.)
Three of these points will be along the fringes of the mined area, three
will be over rooms, and three will be over haulage tunnels. These will
be so located to get data over the shallow ~•rorkings, the more moderately
deep vrorkinas, and the deepest workings of the area. These monuments
will be located only in those areas that have been worked since 1976,
or area anticipated to be worked in the future. 'these monuments shall
be monitored at least once per year, and that for those monuments over
active mining areas, that the survey take place at least tvrice a year
to obtain the necessary data.
4.
