BMRI San Luis Project
CDMG Annual Report
March 2002
Page 2
The remaining 22-acre unreclaimed area at the tailing facility was used during 2001 to
stage reject concentrate from the West Pit water treatment plant and collect underdrain
solutions. The staged water was used for vegetation irrigation along the reclaimed
tailing surface. The supernatant pond footprint or some portion thereof pending the
ability to manage the staged water is expected to continue until West Pit water
treatment is completed. If similar success is experienced in 2002 with the center pivot
irrigation system, the size of the footprint could possibly be reduced in surface area.
Reclamation closure cost estimates were reviewed with the Division during calendar year
2001. The existing financial surety was determined to be adequate to complete the
remaining surface land reclamation, fulfill surface water and ground water monitoring
obligations, and complete water treatment operations associated with the West Pit and Rito
Seco alluvial groundwater systems.
Areas of Disturbance/Reclamation
Table 1 below summarizes the San Luis Project areas of disturbance and reclamation.
The attached map identifies remaining areas of disturbance.

Area Permitted
Disturbance
acres Actual
Disturbance
acres Completed
Reclamation
acres Remaining
Reclamation
acres
East Pit 20 20 20 0
West Pit I10 100 83 17
Waste Rock A 0 0 0 0
Waste Rock B 18 18 18 0
Waste Rock C 30 28 28 0
Waste Rock D 42 42 42 0
South Waste
Rock 50 35 20 15
Mill Area 26 26 4 22
ESI Leach Pad 8 8 8 0
Test Leach Pad 10 ]0 0 10
Borrow Area 11 ]0 0 l0
Roads 30 20 8 12
Tailing Facility 192 192 l70 22
Total Area 547 509 401 lOS
Site Monitoring and Re orting
Quarterly water sample collection and analysis in accordance with TR-06, TR-15, TR-26,
TR-31, and the monitoring program QA/QC took place throughout the year.
