(2m x 50 m) samples of BRB-3 was 55, substantially greater than the
average native species density of either the Mountain Brush Reference area (29.6
species per 100 sq.m.) or the Sagebrush/Snowberry Reference Area (27.9 species per
100 sq.m.) Hence Alternative Test D is passed for BRB-3. Note that BRB-2, older
reclamation that experienced the seeding of fewer native species and more seeds per
square foot of aggressive forage species (see Appendix 3, Table 3-1) possessed 39
native species in the twenty 100 sq.m. samples, demonstrating that the diversification of
the seed mix and the reduction or elimination of aggressive forage species did have the
desired effect of ultimately improving native species diversity.
In summary, for BRB-3 the bond release block subject to species diversity
requirements under the Permanent Program rules, Mandatory Test A was passed
as were Alternative Tests B, C, and D and hence the species diversity test as a
whole is passed.
Assessment of BRB-4rev for Compliance with Phase 11 Performance Standards
The upper limit of the 90% confidence interval associated with the area sampled to
produce cover data applicable to a potential Phase II bond release application (BRB-
27
