Bill Lyle, [dorado Mining Company
November Z3, 2005
Page 3
Sample Collection and Analysis
Twenty soil samples were collected at various representative locations within the repository on September
21, 2004 by MFG of the material removed from the Pandora Area of the Development Property. The
samples were collected at regularly spaced horizontal and vertical intervals to characterize the soil
contained within the repository. The repository was constructed by end-dumping of the mixed soil/mine
and mill-related materials from trucks along a central haul ramp that progessed in elevation as the
repository was constructed. Given the mixing of the soils and mine and mill-related materials that
occurred during excavation and repository construction, the materials are believed to be uniformly
distributed throughout the repository and the bulk of the materials contained within the repository are
represented by the samples collected at the horizontally and vertically spaced intervals. The sampling of
the repository surface was conducted to examine the material within the repository and not to prejudice
the geochemical nature of the stockpile construction due to the manner in which the materials were mixed
during excavation and placement. Therefore, the stockpile sampling in 2004 was completed to examine
the materials geochemical nature in placement in the pile rather independent material characterizations
(i.e., tailing, native soils, and waste rock) from the excavated surface.
The samples collected within the repository on September 21, 2004 were collected on a grid along north-
south trending lines spaced at 80 feet apart from the southwestern corner of the pile heading toward
Marshal Creek, and along east-west trending lines spaced 30 feet apart from the southwestern comer of
the repository. Four additional samples were collected on the eastern slope face of the repository.
Samples were collected between 10 and 65 feet above the base of the repository. Samples were collected
from zero to six inches in depth. Since removal activities had not been completed at the Gold Run Mill at
the time of sampling, four additional samples were collected from areas being excavated at the Gold Run
Mill on September 22, 2004. The samples were collected to a depth of six inches. Additional material
has been placed in the repository and the repository has also been graded after the collection of these
samples. As such, the coordinate system used for sample collection is not applicable to the current
repository configuration and is presented only for reference purposes.
Eighteen additional samples were colleted by MFG of the materials removed from the Liberty Bell Area
during the months of April to October 2005. Twelve of the eighteen samples were composite samples
consisting of samples collected from the Liberty Bell Area from April to August 2005. Each composite
sample was formed by combining three samples collected on three different days of representative
material being excavated on the day the sample was collected. The individual samples were collected at
