• Mean replacement depth = 0.75 feet
By dividing the soil available by the area requiring soil replaced, we arrive at the 2004 soil balance
thickness of 0.75 feet for the tie-across haul road and 1.48 feet for the mine azea. By this calculation
we have determined that SCC has ample topsoil in stockpiles to reclaim the mine at this point
REVEGETATION
• Seeding and Sluu6 Planting
A total of 234.6 acres were seeded/planted in 2004. The majority of the area was seeded using Seed
Mix #1 (see Table 04.2, Seed Mix #I, for constituents).
New shrub sites were established in the "A", "B", and "D" Pit areas. The sites were prepazed by
roughening the soil with small dozer push-ups in an attempt to increase snow water retention. These
areas were hand seeded with Concentrated Shrub Seeding Mix #6 (see Table 04.3, Seed Mix #6, fox
constituents).
Shtub Plots. Approximately 29,800 seedlings and 400 one gallon sized aspen saplings were planted at
II-W, locations of the sates are shown on the attached 2004 Reclamation Map. Following is the
breakdown indicating the number of seedling species planted in each area.
"A" Pit -Aspen Plot
Aspen 400
Servicebeny 1000
• Chokecherry 500
1900
"B" Pit Shrub Site
Serviceberry 5200
Mtn. The Aspen Test Plot was constmcted, fenced and irrigation system installed to the
site. During the fall of 2004, 400 selected aspen trees were planted according to the plan and
timetable included in the Seneca II-W permit document
• Monitoring
• ESCO Assodates, Inc conducted revegetaHon monitoring of permanently revegetated aeeas and shrub
establishment monitoring in the shrub plot areas during the sutntner of 2004. The 2004 Annual
Revegetation Monitoring report is submitted as a separate document (ESCO and SCC, 2005).
