L.F. Brown &
,,~ ~, Associates Inc.
/ ;p' ~ 3473 D'/. Road
Palisade, CO 81528
July 10, 2003
Mr. Carl Mount and Ms. Eric Crosby
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
RECEIVED
JUL 1 4 2003
Division.f Minerals and Geology
Re: Annual Report and Fee for Permit # M-98-052, Rock !stand Operation
Dear Mr. Mount:
Attached are the required map and Annual Fee of $281.00 for the Rock Island
Operation.
(970)454-1171
The operation produced sporadically at fairly low levels throughout the year. Some
of the remaining dredge material was tapped but most of the material sold was taken from
stockpiles.
The operation had affected nearly all of the permit area (i.e., 9.9 acres) and most of
the affected could be considered reclaimed. Therefore, late last year, we applied for and
received a reduction in acreage. And, as you are aware, we have recently applied for an
amendment to return the acreage of the operation back to approximately 9.9 acres.
No topsoil existed within the permit boundary because 100 % of the site was
occupied by placer dredge tailing. Therefore, revegetation is not required in the reclamation
plan. However, we have back-hauled, stockpiled, and distributed some soils for
reclamation on a voluntary basis.
Please call with any questions.
Yours Very Truly,
Larry Brown, Ph.D.
President, L.F.
