Spoils Spring #3 drains out of en old mine pit, end exhibited a flow of 43.7 gpm, an EC
of 4050 umho/cm, and a pH of 7.75. Spoils Spring #4 is a spring adjacent to Spoils Spring
#3 and exhibited o flow of 32.3 gpm with an EC of 3980 umho/cm and a pH of 7.72. Spoils
Spring #5 issues out of another old mine pit north of Spoils Spring #3. Spoil Spring #5
was sampled on June 4, 1993. It had a flow of 161 gpm, an EC of 3690 umhos/cm, and a pH
of 8.07. All these springs eventually flow into the Yadge Impoundment via Little Cressy
Creek.
SpoiLS Spring #7 exists at the upper end of the Wedge Impoundment. On June 4, 1993, it
had a flow of 139 gpm, an EC of 3480 umho/cm, end a pH of 7.36.
Spoils Spring #8 is across the road from Spring #2 along the north permit boundary. It is
situated in a road ditch that was dry 10 yards upstream of the spring and apparently
issues from prelaw area spoils to the south. On June 4, 1993, a flow of 3.6 gpm was noted
with an of 3710 umho/cm, and a pH of 7.62.
Spoil Springs #6 and 10. These springs exist in the Wolf Creek spoils. On June 4, 1993,
Spoil Spring #b had a flow of 4.5 gpm, an EC of 2670 umhos/cm, and a pH of 6.56. Spoil •
Spring #10 was discovered this year. I[ exists along the southwest edge of the Wolf
Creek SpoiLS (Spoil Spring #6 exists along the northwest edge of the same spoils). On
June 4, 1993, Spoi( Spring #10 had a flow of 74.4 gpm, an EC of 3830 umhos/c m, and a pH of
8.26.
Spoils Spring #9. This spring is located in the area immediately upstream of the 008
pond. This sample site is the largest of several seeps that issue from spoils material.
On June 11, 1993, it had a flow of 28.3 gpm, an EC of 2780 umhos/cm, and a pH of 6.90.
Comparison of Surface Water ouality to Water Use Standards. The CDOH has recently revised
established water quality standards for most stream segments in the state, including the
Yampa River and select tributaries (CDOH, 1992). Surface water 7n the Grassy Creek Basin
is categorized under Segment 72 of the Yampa River, and this segment has only minimal
standards established (dissolved oxygen, pH, end fecal coliforms only). Surface water in
the Fish Creek Bas i~n (Cow Camp end Bond Creeks) is categorized under Segment 138. The
standards for Segment 138 vary from [hose used in prior Annual Hydrology Reports.
