• ANNUAL REPORT
Permit No: M-85-212
Operation Name: Arkins Park Quarries
Map S>.mmiry: There have been no changes to the map on file with the Division of erals and Geology.
Cvrent Disturbances: There have been no significant changes to the current di ces reflected on the
ntsps on file with the Division of Minerals and Geology.
New Disturbances for the Upcoming Year: We do not anticipate significantly v 'ng our currently
disturbed areas beyond what we have previously mapped for the Division of Minerals and logy. As of the
date of this report, there are no plans to open-up any new quarrying areas on the lands co aired under this
permit.
Reclamation Accomplished To Date and During the Preceding Year:
To Date: All reclamation "to date" has been reported to, and is in the flies of, th~ Division of
Minerals and Geology.
During the Preceding Year: The quarries in Loveland aze being mined on a~ on-going basis and
we did not actively reclaim the areas last year. To do so would have been a waste of valu ble reclamation
resources and time.
Many of the areas in the Loveland quarries have, over the years, spontaneously re aimed themselves
without any active reclamation on our part. As Mother Nature takes its course and trees d native vegetation
re-seeds itself into disturbed areas, the trees, plants and grasses aze encowaged to grow d we try not to disturb
anything we don't have to.
Reclamation Planned During the Coming Year: At this time, very limited recl ation is anticipated
to occur for these quarries in the coming yeaz. As stated above, these quames are mined n a continual basis.
Any reclamation that is undertaken in the next year will most likely be for ground stabiliza ion within and
among the quarries rather than final reclamation.
In accordance with our permit, reclamation will occur in stages as the quames are epleted. It is
difficult, however, to determine a timetable for the actual depletion of an area or part of area in our quarries.
Operations Status: We operate the Loveland quarries on a full-time basis. Operatio sin these quarties aze
continuous during fair weather, when the area can be typically found without frost, ice, m ch precipitation,
extremely low temperatures or high winds. Therefore, we have no concrete beginning or essation dates to
report.
Sufficiency of Financial Warranty: Our reclamation bond is guaranteed by an irr vocable letter of
credit from the Berthoud National Bank, Berthoud, Colorado, and on file with the Divisi of Minerals and
Geology, acknowledging the liability at $50,000.00 We beheve at this time that this is a s fficient value.
Please be advised that late in 1998 we sold the portion of our pe tted property known
as Arkins Park North, consisting of 23.7 acres, with the legal description of. that portion f the SE 1/4 of the
NE1/4 of Section 22, Township 6 North, Range 70 West of the 6's P.M. The purchaser, arter Lake
Enterprises, is in the process of converting their 110 permit to a 112 permit in order to in Jude this property in
their permit. Upon their successful conversion, we will apply for a release of reclamation esponsibility for
nnrtinn of rn~r nPnnit
