• quarterly for field parameters, and sampled on asemi-annual basis for water quality. The 303 Spring series is
monitored sampled semi-annually for field parameters and water quality.
During the 2002 Water Year, flow was observed for approximately 4 days (in mid September) at spoil spring 7
(Table 58).
Tables 59 through 61 provide summaries of the 2002 Water Yeaz data collected at each 303 series spoils spring.
Table 59a provides a period of record statistical summary of collected data at site 303-1. Figure 124 provides a
graphical representation of period of record field conductivity for spoil spring 303-1. 2002 water quality
parameters for series 303 (Table 59) are typically within previously established ranges. No flow was observed at
site 303-3 during 2002.
3.6 Mine Water Dischart3e Sites
Two mine water discharge sites associated with the TCC operations are monitored. Site 109 requires quarterly
monitoring for flows, field parameters, and water quality samples, and site 115 is monitored as a CDPS discharge
point in accordance with the requirements se[ forth under CDPS Permit No. CO-0042161. Monitoring
requirements at both sites were fulfilled during 2002.
Table 64 provides a summary of the 2002 Water Yeaz data collected from site 109. Table 64A provides a period
• of record statistical summary of collected data at the site. Figure 125 provides a graphical representation of POR
field conductivity for mine water discharged at site 109. Actual discharge from site 109 was limited to
approximately four days in mid-September. This water was discharged into the Area No. 2 holding pit, where it
co-mingled with water from other underground sources. Water from this pit ran into Pond D via the site 7 spring,
where i[ discharged in to Foidel Creek at site 84 Pond D. Water quality samples were collected from 84 Pond D
and site 7 during [his period on September 16, 2002. In addition, a water sample was also collected from site 109
on September 17, 2002.
Dewatering of the Southwest Mining District through site 115, suspended in February 1996, was resumed in
August of 1998. The 2002 Water Year data for mine water dischazge site 115 is presented on Table 65. Table
65A provides the period of record statistical summary. Table 65c presents water pumping records at site 115 for
the 2002 Water Year. At site 109, new maximum values were recorded for dissolved sodium, free ammonia, and
nitrate. At site 115 no new maximums or minimums were recorded.
3.7 CDPS Discharge Sites
Under State of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Colorado Discharge Pemut
System (CDPS) permit No.'s CO-0027154, CO-0036684, and CO-0042161, numerous dischazge points at TCC
operations are monitored throughout the year. Note that CDPS has been refereed to as the National Pollutant
• Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) in previous AHRs. Monitoring results aze copied to DMG in
accordance with CDPS requirements. Tables 66 through 71 provide 2002 and historical data summaries for those
CDPS outfall points, other than mine dewatering site 115, which discharged during the year.
