West Ridge has been
separated into nine different blocks for the Erosion Inventory Control Report using the terraces as
boundaries (see Exhibit 1, Sheet 2). Table 12 provides a summary of the inventory data and is
' followed by a brief description of each block and corrective measures performed on each block
as a result of previous inventories. P&M personnel expect that some erosional features may
develop in the newly reclaimed areas for the next several years until vegetation begins to
' establish. The terraces are performing as anticipated; existing gullies located primazily on older
non-topsoiled reclamation show no sign of activity and seem to be stabilizing with vegetation
establishing along the sides and bottoms. Most blocks showed slight improvements over the
' previous year. The reduced status was primarily caused by the slow establishment of vegetation
on the most recently reclaimed non-topsoiled portions of the blocks. In addition, the winter of
2002-2003 was very mild with low precipitation and little runoff. This permitted 2002 repairs to
' establish vegetation and vegetation in stable rills and gullies to become better established. As a
result of this survey, no rills or gullies in the West Ridge azea are scheduled for repair in 2003.
Table 12: West Ridge Erosion Inventory Data Summary
Area 2003 2002 2001 2000 1999 1998 1997 .1 996
'
Block 1-6 I1 11 ll Il 12 13 35 18
Block 6-7 14 14 14 17 18 18 21 18
Block 7-8 11 11 13 22 24 23 ]7 17
Block 8-9 17 17 22 27 12 7 18 19
'
Block 9-10 13 13 13 19 18 12 27 25
Block 10-I1 12 l2 12 14 18 12 23 24
Block 11-12 7 7 7 8 18 12 19 22
'
Block 12-13 7 7 7 9 12 12 21 21
Block 13-14 6 6 6 6 9 6 24 26
1
9
