DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Quarterly, Monthly and Bi-weekly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of December. Enclosed are analytical
reports from Accu-Labs and Sangre De Cristo Lab (SDC) for the recent bi-weekly, monthly, and
quarterly sampling periods as specified in the April 1992 Abatement Plan. The cross-reference !able
between sample identification numbers, sample types and sample locations is also attached.
Analysis that have not been received will be forwarded To you as I receive them. Field and rinse
blanks were collected as part of the QA/QC.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on
12/30/98, the piezometers were dry or contained well below 12 inches of water.
The two ne~rv west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on 12/30/98, with the
following result: BF-!was 1 1.77 ft and BF-2 was 15.50 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area
were also checked with the fol~owing result: PW-1 was 14.0 ft, PW-2 was 14.85 ft, PW-3 was 23.23 ft
and PW-4 was 26.05 ft.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 32 GPM.
We were unable to measure flow or collect a sample from the leak detection system in December
because it was frozen.
As spelled out in the Response Plan, we began drilling wells in December. Six (6) wells were
completed in the alluvial material and five of the six were sampled and all six were pump tested.
The new wells were M-16, M-17, M-18, M-19, M-20 and M-21.
The pre-Cambrian well on the highwall is down 225 feet as of month's end.
