1
1
' S-04. RECLAMATION RECOMMENDATIONS
' After the slope in the subject area is stabilized and mining is complete in that area, the slope can be
remediated with soil similar to other pit slopes. For the proposed interim reconfiguration, Haley &
Aldrich recommends placing a wedge of soil approximately 40 ft wide with a slope of between
I.SH:IV and 2H:IV against the back of each bench. This soil wedge will extend between 20 and 30
' ft up the highwall for each bench forming a stabilizing buttress.
The soil berm should not extend for more than 40 ft horizontally, nor leave less than 20 ft of bench
' free of soil to prevent adding load to the outside edges (break points) of the benches. Placement of a
40 ft wide soil wedge on the 60 ft wide benches leaves approximately 20 ft for access and other uses.
If falling or rolling rocks are a problem or a concern, small berms could be constructed at the toe of
' each soil wedge to stop rolling rocks.

1

1

1
1
1

14
RPo"A37.16]
~~~-~~
