<a
ti
Randy Price - 2 - April 7, 1986
4. Although the Sump A water the applicant proposes as an alternative to
LFH-2 is classified as moderate salinity hazard, it should be acceptable
given the fact that irrigation water will only be applied during one
growing season and only as a supplement to natural precipitation. In
addition to monitoring irrigation water quality, the applicant should
monitor soil salinity before the first irrigation treatment, between the
two irrigation treatments, immediately after the final irrigation
treatment and near the end of the growing season to verify that no
excessive salt buildup is occurring in therooting zone.
I did not review the engineering feasibility or longterm water availability
aspects of the proposal. Also, note that the 5" irrigation requirement in an
average year is "effective irrigation" not actual. Actual application rate
should be 6.5" rather than 5", to account for the 30% evaporation loss as
referenced in the original application.
/vj r
cc: Bob Liddle
9012E
