The filter cloth should then overlap the rock as shown
1 on Figure 6.
7 Once the rock and filter cloth are in place, the coal refuse
J material should be end dumped over the drain to a minimum depth
of 2 feet and spread with a small dozer, keeping the blade high
l so that the refuse material is being dropped on, not shoved over
1 the filter cloth to prevent damage to the cloth. Once the 2 foot
layer is obtained, the refuse material should be compacted to the
required moisture density specifications.
Refuse should be disposed to the lines and grades shown on the
drawings. Control for placement can be established from the
control points provided on Figure 1.
Run-of-plant coarse refuse and fine refuse from the belt-press
operations should be mixed in a ratio of 3 coarse (or greater)
to 1 fine and used for construction of the pile.
The refuse mixture should be spread in horizontal lifts not more
than 3 feet thick using a bulldozer or other earth moving
equipment.
The refuse mixture should be placed in the central portion of the
1 fill area away from the slopes during wet weather or when
drainage is insufficient and near the outside slopes during drier
' periods.
' The refuse should be spread in layers having an uncompacted
thickness of less than 3 feet. The material should be compacted
12
