RE: 2006 Annual Reclamation Report, Southfield Mine, Permit No. C-81-014
Dear Mr. Patterson:
The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division) has completed review of the
2006 Annual Reclamation Report (ARR) for the Southfield Mine. Acreage values
reported appear accurate and represent the current reclamation status at the mine.
No additional disturbance or reclamation work was completed during 2006. Areas yet to
be reclaimed include 8.4 acres of land occupied by temporary sediment ponds at the
main site and at the loadout. Activity at the site during the calendar year included road
grading, silt fence repair, ditch maintenance and weed control (knapweed). The
locations of these activities were noted on maps included in the report.
The first growing season for this site was in 2004. The approved permit application
required the revegetated areas to be evaluated after the third growing season. I.M.E.,
Inc. conducted vegetation surveys in August and September of 2006. Review and
discussion of this report by the Division wil- come under separate cover.
