' mmhos/cm, (a similar trend) occurring in the downstream station on Middle Creek (Site 29).
The spring runoff conductivity at Site 29 has increased from 400 mmhos/cm to 1500 mmhos/cm.
' Also the imgation season level has increased from approximately 1500 mmhos/cm to
approximately 2500 mmhos/cm. the higher peak levels of conductivity in the streams in 1990
' are probably due to the abnormally low stream flows in the summer of 1990. This increase is
probably more due to upstream mining activities than to the effects of Mine No. 3. Other than
' increased levels of sodium, sulphate, and SAR in the stream, no other significant water quality
impacts due to mining have been detected. The increase in SAR levels during irrigation season
' is not sufficient to cause material damage.
-6-
