Pueblo West Pit
2005 Annual Report
Transit Mix of Pueblo RECEIVED
M-1977-573
MAR 2 2 2005
O~aiti0n ~f Mi~erels and Geology
Overview of Permit Yeat: Over the past year Transit Mix of Pueblo was actively
reclaiming the Pueblo West Pit. Transit Mix received a partial release of lands
approximately 104 acres in December 2004. These lands were released to State Parks.
All released and active reclamation areas can be seen on the enclosed map.
Mining Activity: Mining has ceased at this site and the only activity that is occurring
is reclamation.
Weed Control: In conjunction with the release of lands to State parks. Transit Mix
has removed much of the Tamarisk and Russian Olive. Transit Mix will continue to
perform weed control through May 4, 2006, on the 104 acres released to State Parks
in accordance with its agreement with State Parks. The control measures used will be
mowing, and control of white top and other species.
Reclamation: Reclamation continued in 2004 and will continue in 2005. As seen on
the map the southern portion of the reservoir area still needs to be completed. This
activity is currently underway.
Expected Activity: Throughout the upcoming year the expected activity will be
completion of reclamation activities in the area north of the river as seen on the map.
Transit Mix expects to have the remaining unfinished backfill area completed around
the beginning of June. Transit Mix will then perform a 90 day reservoir test in
conjunction with the State Engineers Office, to determine the suitability of this area
to be a reservoir.
