ANNUAL REPORT
Operator United Companies of Mesa County
Operation 15 Road Pit
File Number M-2002-114
Anniversary Date March 13, 2006
This location was active for most of the report year. Mining continued to take place in Area 1.
This location is used for crushing, washing, and stockpiling of sand and gravel products used in
the production of asphalt and redi-mix. Roadbase is also produced and stockpiled here.
The wetlands project is on going. There is a chance United Companies will partner with Mesa
State College on a wetlands improvement project. If so, the wetlands area in the southeast corner
of the pit will be the place.
United Companies did reclaim a couple hundred feet of pit wall to a 3:1 slope this report period.
Water discharge continues to be well within the health department standards. Weed control
continues on a twice a year basis for noxious weeds. Small tamarisk growth is either cut down
or sprayed during the weed treatment event. Our last DMG inspection was satisfactory.
Sincerely,
~.luN~ ~ ~ ! ~eNJ
Brent W. Kerr
Resource Manager
