A direct correlation is noted
between raw water pumpage and levels reported for the A-Groove. Pumpage effect on the B-
• Groove is less than the. A-Groove, but A-Groove pumpage effect continue to be noted. No WL
effects from mining activities (increased, piezometric head), other than water well pumpage,
(decreased piezometric head) were detected in the A or B-Groove wells. Maintaining a
piezometric head difference between the B-Groove and Dissolution Surface aquifers will inhibit
potential mining effects.
The WL of the Dissolution Surtace well EX-2 changed significantly from 1993-1994. The WL
increase con•esponds to when pressurized mining was performed, and a WL decrease was
noted during operational shutdowns. A project effect on the Dissolution Surface aquifer was
predicted in the EIS. The EPA has determined the Dissolution Surface aquifer is not a
protected aquifer due to high TDS. The project is closely monitoring this aquifer. Use of
n
~J
49
