Heavy rains throughout the year do not recharge any potential seeps, springs or wetlands. Further-
more, there are no human induced sources of water to charge any potential wetlands which the Natural
Resource Conservation Service deems as an area of critical environmental concern.
• Substantial snow pack does does not occur neaz the proposed project zone. Field survey concluded
there were no springs, seeps or wetlands linked to snow pack.
Seismic inforrd?tion
The United State Geologic Survey Probabilistic Earthquake Acceleration and Velocity macs for the
lnited Sate nd R erto ico, Algermissen, Perkins, Thenhuas, Perkins and Bender; 1991, indicates
that the proposed project zone does not lie within 200 feet of a major fault that has had displacement
within the Holocene time
The majority of seismic events lie west of the Continental Divide. Several of the areas including the
Sedalia project zone and eastern Colorado appear to be relatively aseismic. There is a 90% probability
that the maximum horizontal acceleration and velocity shown on the map will not be exceeded in the
time periods of 50 to 250 years.
Compacted clays and soils within the Dakota Sandstones will result in little settling of the proposed
project zone.
Pr'me or i idue Farmlands
The Soil Survey for the Castle RockArea, Douglas County Colorado indicates the area in not Prime or
Unique Farmland.
• NF. ATI . D . .A ATIONC
Field analysis and literature searches have concluded that the following environmental elements will
not be effected by the proposed project. Historic Resources, Native American Religious Concerns,
Paleontological Resources, mineral resources, Wilderness Values ,and grazing.
A depository and recycling facility is consistent with the current land uses of the proposed facility
zone and the surrounding area. Therefore, no mitigation measures are necessary.
Transportation
The minor increase in traffic will be mitigated through the blading and graveling of the existing road
into the project zone.
Human Population
No people will be displaced by project. Therefore, no mitigation measures are recommended.
Construction
Fugitive dust problems during construction can be controlled through an abatement program. Noise
levels from heavy machinery operation can be mitigated by restricting construction to daylight hours.
• F~nergy i a c
Due to the minimal increase in energy use for the proposed facility, no mitigation measures are neces-
sary.
9
