The surficial failures of past years
have not occurred in 1990. The spring of 1990 was abnormally warm and dry in
the North Fork valley. It is hoped that this will allow the bench to gain
surficial stability.
The monitoring of the water levels in the piezometers installed on the face
and crest of the portal bench do not indicate any reason for increased
concern. The piezometers appear to be evidencing relatively consistent annual
fluctuations in the water levels within the bench. No Division concerns have
resulted from review of the two referenced documents.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
~I~~ ~ ---
Matthew S.
