This surface area has increased. Rock removal
continues to be from the high rock wall face and has resulted in
enlarging the area to the north.
Number of acres reclaimed this year:
Surface areas reclaimed: 23 1/2 acres
Number of acres in various stages of reclamation:
There was new acreage reclaimed; approximately 3.25 acres reseeded.
Acres back filled: 3 1/2
Acres graded: 3 1/2
Acres revegetated: (20 to
Topsoil acres replaced: 6
date)
acres previously topsoiled
With our present quarry activity involving the "high wall"
the same quarry floor area continues to be in constant use.
This situation will continue for some years to come.
Species, locations and approximate planting dates of vegetation:
Species: 20~ Rye, 5$ Blue Gamma, 75~ Wheat Grass
This mixture is being used on all the seeding areas
(level surface areas, berms, and road backslopes).
Approximate dates of planting: October , 1980; April, 1981;
October, 1981; October, 1983; October, 1984; October, 1985;
November, 1990; September 1991. No fertilizers required to date.
Aonraisal of the success of reclamation efforts:
The previously seeded areas continue to do well. We have found
that when seeding, rolling or compacting the seed into the topsoil
is necessary to prevent wind loss and insure a higher rate of
ground cover. Normal rain this year has produced acceptable grass.
Estimate of the number of acres to be affected this coming year:
We anticipate 2 acres will be started beginning this summer season.
This 2 acres will be a continuation to the north along the "high
wall" area.
•
