I
am also sending along at this time the extensive quality control
report included by Core Laboratories. Core also provided us with
a more complete quality control report dated October 6, 7.994,
which I also enclose for your reference.
We believe that our ores show a very high ratio of z\cid
neutralizing to acid generating potential, which is what we have
always maintained about the Caribou District. We have four known
mine flows in the District from the Caribou portal to they area
east of the Boulder County Mine. All have pH values of <<round 7.
We also find very low quantities of pyrites in the Cross and
Caribou type ores, and substantial amounts of carbonates. i~
We do believe there to be one "transient" in the Dice ~Q~~~
element analysis. The trace element analysis shows aril\m at .15 e
ppm. We have never detected barium in the mine afte re~
sampled our water flows for over a decade. We have no known '~
occurrences of barite or other barium minerals in the mine. We (,~ ~"
suspect that some form of contamination was present in tYie p~ y,
laboratory. If necessary, we should retest for this element in ~,,r+-v-'
the procedure.
We would be most interested in the standards being L\sed by
the Division to determine candidates for DMO status under the new
statute. As only a few mines have prepared this type of study,
we would be interested in the standards developed by you for
assessing the potential for acid generation, and resultant heavy
metal mobilization. We, of course, have always taken the:
6\h endriclmckinnon\letters\feirn{r
