• GROUND WATER
Table G-85 is a listing of average water level, pH and
conductivity for the piezometers and wells. Sampling was reduced
to monthly water levels and annual field analysis for the coal I'
p• `,,, W % ~ sir., -.,. ..~ ~•~na
seam and alluvial iezometers and wells. '~~4L
.y
~,.~ s. M, ~_~ ~w,.
The average water levels in the coal seam wells and piezometers
were higher again this year. The pH and conductivity of D-1 was
within the range of previous samples. The pH of E-1 was similar
to previous samples but the conductivity has been consistantly
dropping. The water in this well may be more related to surface
water than water moving up dip in the coal seam. The pH and con-
ductivity of F-1 was consistant with previous samples.
The water levels in the alluvial wells were both higher and
lower. Some consistancy within areas might be a reflection of
the irrigation practices near by. A-9 and A-11 piezometers were
• sampled for field information for this first time this year. The
conductivity of A-9 is lower than normally found in the alluvial
ground water but may have been the result of irrigation water
standing 10-feet away.
The four refuse piezometers that have water showed a lower
water surface elevation this year than last. Diagram G-85-1 shows
the piezometric surface compared to surface contours. The average
pH was lower this year than last on the three piezometers listed.
R-1 again showed a sharp drop in conductivity in the early spring
as well as a slight increase in water level. The timing of this
drop may have to do with spring thaw rather than spring high waters.
The average conductivity on R-1 and R-3 increased slightly since
last year and R-6 decreased.
The average water level for the pond piezometers was close
to last year's levels. Diagram G-85-2 shows a cross section of
• the #1 pond embankment and related elevations. The high and low
water levels is shown for P-1 and P-3. The water level in the
