September 1990.
San Luis Praiect
This letter provides a discussion of the results of the geochemical testing of five samples of
tailings taken from the San Luis tailings facility in September 1993, (Care Laboratories
(CORE) report ,C 931935/November 10, 19931, as requested in your letter of January 17,
1994. This letter is divided into three sections, as follows:
• data analysis of static acid generation potential results;
• data analysis of tailings porefluid results; and
• data analysis of results from USEPA Method 1312 (Synthetic Precipitation
Leach Procedure) leach testing.
Static Acid Generation Potential Tests
The data from the static AGP data given in the CORE data sheets are summarised in Table
1, attached, giving total sulphur, pyritic sulphur, AGP (both based on total sulphur and
pyritic sulphurs, ANP and ANP/AGP ratio values. Also included in Table 1 are some mean
values for each of the parameters.
The data from Table 1 indicate the following;
• there is little significant variation in the sulphur, sulphide and ANP values in
all the samples, with the range of values being relatively smalls;
10/03161
