•NOTTINGHAM SAND & GRAVEL CO.
ANNUAL REPORT
EAGLE PIT, Permit No. 78-352
Because of the poor market for gravel over the past year
and the constraints of a court-ordered stay affecting the most
recently permitted portion of this pit, there has been no
crushing of new material at the pit, and there has been no
change in the location or increase in the number of acres
affected during the year . Materials crushed in previous years
have been processed at the pit and sold off as needed .
There have been no steps taken toward permanent reclama-
tion, which will of necessity move from west to east in inverse
order to the mining operations . As marked on the plat accom-
panying this report, however, three stockpiles of material have
been removed at the eastern end of the pit so that the ground
there is back to level . This eastern end of the pit will be
the last area mined, if mined at all , and because of the long
and narrow configuration of the pit may again have to be used
as a stockpile area .
The operator feels unable to make any reliable estimate of
the location and number of acres to be affected in the coming
year . He still has stockpiled materials that may be sufficient
to meet the demands of a poor market and will continue to
process those as needed. In the event that demand increases .
mining operations will move westward in the newly permitted
area, but it is unlikely that more than an additional 1 to 2
acres would be disturbed. Such a move will be dependent upon
the lifting of the court stay, which should be accomplished
before the spring of 1986 .
