•
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St-. Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
303 866-3567
FAX: 303 832-8106
March 16, 1990
Mr. Murari Shrestha
Western Fuels-Utah, Inc.
405 Urban Street, Suite 305
Lakewood, CO 80228
RE: Deserado Mine (Permit C-81-018) Annual Hydrology Report,
Water Year 1988-89
Dear Mr. Shrestha:
OF Cpl
E 9
~ ~8 T6 ~
Ror Rome,
Doverror
Fretl R Banta,
Dnision Dneolor
This letter is to acknowledge receipt of the above referenced Annual
Hydrology Report and compliance with the requirements of the Deserado Mine
permit.
Review of the Annual Hydrology Report did not disclose any major concerns on
the part of the Division regarding hydrologic impacts in the Deserado Mine
area. The divergences of the data from values and trends determined in
previous years do not appear to be significant enough to require any
alteration of the monitoring plan or of the operation of the mine.
There are however some aspects of the report that merit comment:
On page 4, the required surface water quality parameters are listed in
Table 2-1, but no comparable listing for ground water is made in the
body of the report. Possibly, the ground water parameters could be
added in future reports or indicated by asterisks and a footnote in
Table 2-1 itself.
2. Well RM-1 should be added to the listing of monitoring points in
Appendix A together with its associated monitoring requirements in
future reports. On page A-3, surface water site SW3-1 should be changed
to SWIi-1 or so it seems; SW11-1 is not otherwise listed.
~ III IIIIiiliilllilli
STATE OF COLORADO
3. On page B-3 there is a mixture of analytical data for surface sites
SW11-1 and SW1-1. The correct data for SW1]-1 should be supplied.
