' //~ Kennecott
~ .Energy ,. _ Memorandum
• Co(otz-yo CoalConrpany L.~. ~,~:'
FOR: Steve Hinkemeyer
West Pit Fill Construction Report
October 7, 1999
On September 23, 1999 I inspected the azea in which the West Pit Excess Spoil Fill (West Pit
Fill) is being constructed. The purpose of these inspections is to verify proper construction of the
West Pit Fill according to the requirements of Permit C-81-019 and fulfill the CDMG Rule
4.09.1(1 la).
During the Quarter an additional 1,200,000 LCY of fill was placed on the 7375, 7425, and 7450
dumps. This essentially completes the fill portion of the work to be completed. Items still
remaining to be fuunshed include final grading of the 7450 dump and the East facing 7375 and
7525 dumps. Some small amount of topsoil was placed on the Northwest facing slopes during
this quarter. ~
• I have included Pictures 128 and 129 showing the grading and topsoiling of the 7275 and 7325
dumps on the Northwest side of the Fill. I have also included Pictures 130 - 131 showing how
grading of new dumps ties into existing reclamation.
Attached to this report is my certification that all construction requirements have been met thus
faz in constructing the West Pit Excess Spoil Fill during this quarter.
/~
rian K. ggs
Mining Engineer
xc: Jim Kiger, Colowyo
File
•
D:lmiscllcdmglwpcon299. wpd
