PAW-8: This station was installed and monitoring began in 1994 to monitor the <br />effects of the Refuse Disposal Area at the New Elk Mine on Purgatoire River alluvial <br />groundwater. The well is located on the north river bank. Data collected (annual <br />• minimum, maximum, mean) collected from 1994 to date aze presented in Table B-5. <br />PAW -9: This station was installed and monitoring began in 1994 to monitor the <br />overall effects of the New Elk activities on alluvial groundwater. This well is located on <br />the south bank of the river neaz PRS-4. Data collected (annual minimum, maximum, <br />mean) collected from 1994 to date aze presented in Table B-6. <br />New Elk Mine Water Levels <br />NEW -1: This sample station, the west portal shaft of the New Elk Mine, was <br />established to monitor the recovery (flooding) and quality of water of the sealed New Elk <br />Mine. Reclamation work has resulted in the loss of this station. <br />NEW-2: This sample station, the east portal shaft of the New Elk Mine, was <br />established to monitor the recovery (flooding) and quality of water of the sealed New Elk <br />Mine. Data collected at this station aze presented in Table B-9. <br />NEW-3: A dip sample from the Apache Canyon shaft, used to assess the rate of <br />flooding and the quality of water in the New Elk mine workings following sealing (see B- <br />10). <br />NEW-4: This sample station, a well, located down-dip a sufficient distance from the <br />portals to reach a known flooded portion of the sealed New Elk Mine (neaz the conveyor <br />• belt), was established to monitor the recovery (flooding) and quality of water. Data <br />collected at this station (annual minimum, maximum, mean) for 1994 through 2001 aze <br />presented in Table B-11. <br />Refuse Disposal Area Piezometers <br />TH-201: Station TH-201, a piezometer, was installed on the lowest bench of the <br />Refuse Disposal Area fill (Bench 1) to determine the level of the piezometric surface <br />within the embankment. <br />TH-202: Station TH-202, a piezometer, was installed in the Refuse Disposal Area <br />(Bench 2) to determine the level of the piezometric surface within the embanlanent. <br />TH-203: Station TH-203, a piezometer, was installed in the Refuse Disposal Area <br />(Bench 3) to determine the level of the piezometric surface within the embankment. <br />This information is to be used in analyses of embankment stability of the Refuse Disposal <br />land fill.
